WhoIs Analyzer Pro Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why do I get the error "Socket error: The remote host closed the connection"?
This error generally appears under two circumstances: (1) the server that was queried is experiencing technical difficulties preventing it from fulfilling your request or (2) the server that was queried has received too many queries from your host (usually based on your IP address) over the past period of time they measure. The solution is to try your query again later.

Why do I get the error "Socket error: Network operation timed out"?
This error generally appears under two circumstances: (1) the server that was queried is experiencing technical difficulties preventing it from fulfilling your request on a timely basis or (2) the "server timeout" you configured or the default timeout we shipped with the program is too short for the particular server you are querying. A possible solution is to increase the "Server timeout" setting under Preferences->General. This setting is in milliseconds, so 10,000 millseconds would be 10 seconds. Generally servers should respond in less time, but setting this higher will give them longer to respond before giving up on the query. Settings between 10,000 milliseconds (10 seconds) and 20,000 millseconds (20 seconds) are recommended.
